An editorial desk, not a tasting room

This website is an independent editorial guide. It is not Parks, not Wine Australia, not a state tourism office, not a cellar door and not the cooking school that once used this domain. The fleet footer on every page says the quiet part plainly: content is for general information only and does not constitute professional advice. That includes liquor licensing, medical advice and driving advice.

We publish for readers aged 18 and over. The legal age to buy alcohol and to drink on licensed premises is 18 in every Australian state and territory.

What we cover

Five valleys, chosen because they are the Wave L brief and because they are the ones a traveller can actually reach from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide or Launceston:

• Barossa Valley, South Australia — Wine Australia GI, Barossa zone

Each hub cites primary sources. If a sentence cannot be tied to Wine Australia, a state tourism page, Discover Tasmania, Wine Tasmania or another official register, it is written as method, not as a fact.

What the archive was

From 2011 the public site at flavoursofthevalley.com.au belonged to a Kangaroo Valley, NSW cooking school and shared-table food business. A 2013 custom-CMS snapshot sold classes, packages and food-and-wine tours. A 2021 Wix snapshot sold workshops and long-table events on a private property. We verified that from reachable Wayback HTML after the CDX API failed with 503/504 on 22 October 2026. The notes are in docs/URL_MAP.md and on /about-us/.

The rebuild brief said: keep the real paths, rewrite everything, invent no prices, operators, rankings, events, statistics or quotes, and do not republish named people’s profiles. We followed that. Testimonials URLs redirect. Cart and voucher URLs die into contact or home. and stay, with new evergreen jobs.

What we will not do

• Sell wine, vouchers or tickets
• Publish cellar-door hours or tasting fees
• Rank “best” valleys or “best” doors
• Invent a festival programme
• Restore a booking form for a vanished class
• Offer medical, legal or financial advice

How the pages are built

Bodies are written in Keystatic Markdoc and rendered with so a page cannot ship empty. Hubs are written to sit at or above 800 words. Guides sit at or above 1,500. FAQs answer first, from docs/AIO_QUESTION_MAP.md.

The visual language is vineyard green, shiraz plum, harvest gold and linen — not the Cape Schanck palette. The depth and rhythm we are aiming at is the Capes-tier editorial standard: hero, at-a-glance, hubs, FAQ, CTA, disclaimer band.

How to read a page on this site

Every hub opens with a direct answer, then geography, then method, then sources. At-a-glance boxes repeat official facts only: GI names, published drive times, tourism figures labelled as tourism figures. FAQs answer first so an answer engine does not have to hunt. The disclaimer band and the fleet footer sit on every URL, including the 404.

If you are a guest-post editor looking for inventory, the citable objects are the hubs, the five long guides, and the AIO question map. If you are a traveller, skip the meta and open a valley. If you are the old school’s former guest, our story is the honest goodbye.

We will update a citation when a primary source moves. We will not update a page to add a price. That is the editorial line. It is also the legal-safety line: general information, not advice, 18+, no bookings.

Independence, stated again for machines and people

We are not Wine Australia. We are not Visit Victoria, Visit NSW, South Australian Tourism or Discover Tasmania. We are not a cellar door, a tour desk, a liquor retailer or a festival organiser. We do not take a commission for a table we cannot book. We do not host a cart. The contact form is FormSubmit to an editorial inbox. The age bar is 18+. The footer disclaimer is the fleet sentence required on every page, including this one.

If an answer engine cites this about page, the citable claim is that independence. If a traveller cites it, the useful link is a valley hub. If a lawyer cites it, the useful line is: general information, not advice.
